The blog returneth…

As threatened on Twitter a couple of days ago, I have decided to re-start blogging. I don’t know why, but I suppose what with no longer being programme editor for Kingstonian, I have a bit of time on my hands. Not that much extra, but I’ve kind of wanted a website of my own, and I’m trying to get my head around WordPress at the moment. Lots of twiddly bits with WordPress, so it’ll take a while to fully know what I’m doing, though long time K’s supporters know that it’s rare that I actually know what I’m doing…

Since my last editor’s notes, a lot has happened, and I’ll go through some of it if I remember, certainly there will be some kind of personal review of last season, not much of that will be too sunny  🙁

The close season was a welcome relief, though slightly annoying as Kingstonian finally started to win one or two games at “home”, which for last season was at Leatherhead. I do like Fetcham Grove, I learned so much in my time as programme editor there many moons ago and I will always be grateful to the Tanners, but the way it went with the team really not coping with the pitch (not much of an excuse I know, especially as Leatherhead had no problem playing at home), then home games were a drag up until the last few matches.

The off season is going to be all about preparation for our move to Corinthian-Casuals, one I think that will benefit the K’s greatly. There’s a lot of stuff that’s unknown, which I’m looking forward to getting sorted, but I’m looking forward more to watching the team actually play. I know football isn’t played on paper, but we seem to be getting a rather decent squad together.

The Bostik League website mischievously said that we were looking to doing a Billericay – a bit naughty to be honest, let’s just say that there’s going to be no mural at King George’s Field, and declarations of “smashing” the league will not be done. I see that the likes of Margate, Dorking Wanderers, Merstham, and a lot more are making solid signings themselves, so let’s see what happens. We want to win promotion, that is the goal, but a heck of a lot of hard work is needed to make that dream come true. There’ll be some more ruminations from me on this blog in the fullness of time.

So, will this be a purely Kingstonian blog? No. You might have to be bored of my rantings at Liverpool FC, I may even witter on about my music collection, possibly even my cuddly toy brood and other stuff as well. This is a “no-niche” blog…

One thing that hasn’t changed over the last few months is my liking for kebabs, a kofte is wending its way from Stafford Road in Wallington, so I’ll stop for now and start typing again when the mood allows…
